AUSTRALIA'S FIRST PARLIAMENT

On 9th May 1901 Australias First Parliament sat, and was addressed by His Royal Highness the Duke of Cornwell and York. A magnificent painting of this event was commissioned by artist Tom Roberts.

A copy of this is at the Athenaeum in Chiltern.

AUSTRALIA'S FIRST MOVING FILM

This is a film taken by the Salvation Army in 1901 of the signing of Federation. There are moving films of the Boar War in the late 1890's and a film of Brisbane Railway Station in 1897.
