Boat Ramps

    There are 10 Boat Launching Ramps in the Lake. Ask at the Tourist Centre.

     There is one at the Yarrawonga foreshore right next to the bridge in Hunt Street, and one further up Hunt St at the corner of Ely St.

In Mulwala the Mulwala Boat Ramp is 4 km from the Bridge in Melbourne Street.

Boat Rock

    An Aboriginal site where the Aboriginals dug into hard rock to form a reservoir to store water over the summer periods. Extremely unusual creation for aboriginal people. Approximately  26 Km from Mulwala.

Camping Holidays

    Parks and reserves along the Victorian side of the Murray River are managed by Parks Victoria.

Most of the area along the Victorian side is currently available for camping.

To protect the environment and the enjoyment of other visitors, campers are required to follow some simple guidelines. Inquire at the Tourist Centre.

Fishing

    You may fish in the Murray River from Yarrawonga Weir to Tocumwal Road Bridge from December to August. The river is closed for three months September, October and November.

The Protected fish are Trout Cod, Macquarie Perch, Eastern Freshwater Cod, Australian Grayling. If caught these fish must be returned carefully to the water. Silver Perch cannot be taken from all rivers and streams.

Mulwala Canal

    The Mulwala Canal is Australia's largest Irrigation channel, and runs for approximately 120Km. There is a network of 2800Km of subsidiary channels which supply water from Lake Mulwala to more than 2100 farms covering 750,000 ha, or 7500 square kilometres, or nearly 3000 square miles. The Canal was commenced in 1935.

Train

    The Mulwala Express is situated in Purtle Reserve, Mulwala, on the banks of the Lake. The Old Engine number 2507 has covered many miles for Vic rail, but she now rests on the foreshore. Built in Newport Victoria, in the early 1930's,  and was brought to Mulwala by the Service Clubs of the town. Ideal for kids to climb in and on.
