Chiltern Birds

The Complete Listing of Chiltern Birds

This bird list has been compiled by Neville Bartlett of the Friends of Chiltern Park and has been largely based on an article published in The Australian Bird Watcher [Vol. 16, No. 8 December 1996] by B.J. Traill, Eileen Collins, Paul Peake and Scott Jessop.

Three species (Grey Goshawk, Chestnut-rumped Thornbill and Crested Bellbird) have been omitted from the list because these birds are extinct in the Chiltern area.

The best bird watching locations in and around the national park are at Frogs Hollow, Cyanide Dam, Chiltern Valley No. 1 and No. 2 Lakes, and any place where there is water.
