Walking
Snowy Mountain Holidays
is located near 3 national parks: Kosciuszko National
Park. Alpine National Park and Burrowa-Pine Mountain
National Park. Between the three, there is plenty
of bushwalking available. Kosciuszko National Park is
of special interest as it contains: the highest mountains and
most extensive alpine snowfields in Australia; the headwaters
of our greatest river system, the Murray River; and many
unique forms of animal and plant life. The winter snow,
the summer wildflowers and the grand vistas of Mt. Kosciuszko
are unequalled in the land.
Mt. Kosciuszko is the highest
mountain in Australia (2228m) and both national
and international travellers enjoy walking to the
top of Australia. In order to protect the unique flora
of the park, a walking track has been built making it an easy
going walk. Above the timberline, it is a 14k walk
(round trip) from the tip of the chair lift at the ski area of
thredbo, NSW. We are 1 1/2 hr drive from Thredbo.
