About our olive grove

Within the groves we have a variety of pollinators, these being Koroneiki, Frantoio, Verdale, Mission and Corregiola.

Here you can see an overview of the groves.
In the back you can see a vineyard..that's not ours

If you are wondering what that yellow "thingy" is above the grove...that's me, Jos, flying my paramotor...but that's a whole different story...has nothing to do with olives.

Grove 1, ( which is only partly visible)in the top right of the picture, mainly Kings and Manzo's were planted in September 1998, Grove 2, at the bottom left, was planted a year later in 1999 and grove 3 was panted in 2001.( in the middle of the picture)

Here you can see a picture of some of the trees in Grove 2, it was taken in spring 2005 ( november 2005 for those not familiar with the southern hemisphere seasons)

Harvesting is done by hand...much like on the next picture..you can see Kathy beavering away and gathering the fruits
It's a labour of love and hard work...

Table olives are harvested one by one, much like cherries as we don't want to damage the olives
For olives destined for olive oil we use a net to rake the olives on and from the net the olives roll into crates.
In the picture below you can see the olive net under construction and you can see the openings in the front, that's where the crates are positioned to collect the olives,

That's about it...there is more to read in the other pages.
