The Upper Murray  

   A farming family settled in the Upper Murray region of Victoria so that they could enjoy the natural beauty of the countryside. A tiny golden mouse® visited the farmer in a dream and directed him to farm a particular portion of his land, leaving the remainder as home to the native animals of the area. He followed this advice and the family prospered.

  This family agreed with other people that believed that sightings of the Golden Mouse brought them luck. A gold miner in the Chiltern Forest, in Victoria striking it rich after seeing the Golden Mouse, friends being successful in the tourist trade by educating people on protection of the natural environment were just some of the stories that surfaced about sightings of this Golden Mouse.

  The Golden Mouse® became a symbol of good luck and children were given a homemade one to promote a happy life. People gave one to others when wishing them well in their endeavors.

  Today we still give a Golden Mouse to those to whom we wish good fortune, but now we know there is a little golden mouse in many of the forest areas of Australia that is rarely seen. Does this mouse have special powers or is it another mouse, with magical powers that may have been seen throughout the ages across Australia?
