Last Weeks Trail

A small, but dedicated, group of Hashers gathered in the failing light in the free camping ground on the banks of the Murray River behind the local pub. Slowly but surely, tents were erected, camper vans were extended or cars were parked. Everything was eventually set up, so A.I., Sting, Rat and Onca retired to the Pub to get a meal but were about ten minutes to late, so a quick 'phone call, and trip, to the Fish & Chip shop in near-by Walwa fixed that problem.

With ourselves replenished, it was "On Out" along the roadside to collect some wood to help ward off the chill in the air whilst we were sitting around discussing world events. The various types of booze consumed (by the grown-ups) also helped in this. Eventually, at various times, the Hashers made their way to their sleeping quarters.

Just for a change, Bandit was the first up and about on Saturday morning, closely followed by Rat and Onca. A walk around the camping ground provided enough wood to resurrect the fire enough to cook breakfast as the rest of the pack slowly started moving, with Gunna, in his Swag, being the last out and about, his swag providing a good pissing post for several of the local dogs.

While Gunna and Kunoath want and set the trail, and Gunna did his civil duty and voted, the rest of the pack went for a walk along the riverbank, and, on their way back, gathered more firewood. Gunna and Kunoath returned from setting the trail just in time for Lunch.

At the appropriate time, it was "On Out" and down the road towards town. The first Hash Halt was only a couple of hundred meters away, positioned so that the pack could enjoy a viewing of a ginormus pumpkin sitting in a roadside paddock (boy was it big!!!). Trail then continued towards town, but took a short divergence down a side street, down into a creekline, under the roadway we had just been on, and up the other side back onto the roadway. Trail then led virtually to the only major intersection in town before turning into the local Showgroud/Footyground (were, co-incidentally, the local polling booth was) where the pack did almost a full lap of the oval, ending up crawling through or over the wire fence just to the rear of the polling booth (my guess is Kunoath set this part of the run whilst Gunna was inside, voting.).

Trail, once again, led to the only major intersection in town before turning west (except for Gunna, who had to go the local General store for some flour) and heading out of town. A couple of kilometers (maybe) down one side of the road, one bridge and several Wombat holes saw trail heading back down the other side of the road, and, lo and behold, here was Gunna walking down this wrong side of the road, for some reason. Trail, once again, led to the only major intersection in town before turning north but the Harrierettes could not be bother and went "On Home" but the Harriers continued out of town, again, before finding the "On Home".

When the pack had settled into their chairs, Artificial Insemination started to appoint the New Committee with the main positions being:-

Grand Mattress Sting
On Sec Bandit
Hash Cash & Brewmaster Kunoath
Trailmaster Gunna
Hash Monk/Religious Adviser Bobcat
