Last Weeks Trail

The pack of seven locals plus Handjob and Deadringer from Wagga Wagga H3 gathered outside Kunoaths caravan giving their bikes a last minute once over prior to loading them on to Gunna's trailer. In expectation of A.I. and KrunchA meeting the rest of the pack at the start, Beechworth's Railway Station, Sting loaded up her car with Hashers and set off for the start, leaving the rest to fill Gunna's car when they had finished loading the bikes. Great disappointment when the pack arrived at the station and found no-one else waiting so it was a final last minute check of the bikes then it was "On On" along the Rail Trail.

Several "Hash Halts" were called along the way, more in an effort to keep the pack together than to give hashers a rest. Although all were on bikes on this day, for some it had been quite a while since some had ridden bikes …… years, and even decades, for some. As the pack waited (invariably they waited for Gunna and Kunoath), they took the opportunity for some sight seeing, as, whilst they were mobile, most were concentrating on keeping the bikes on the pathway.

Just over an hour after the start, Kunoath's misses, Rosemary, was spotted hosting the drink stop. Some liquid refreshments were partaken by all, and the chance was taken to chat to some of the other travelers on the rail trail, most heading the opposite way to us. Then it was a short ride back to the Everton Pub for lunch.

After lunch, and after retrieving the two cars from the start point, the pack were still full of energy so set off toward Eldorado, with the first stop being the old Everton Railway Station. Where, in the morning, the trail had been downhill, this time it was slightly uphill, so, at the Everton Station, Handjob had decided enough was enough, and retired the bike to the trailer and herself to Gunna's car, now driven by Kunoath who had decided at the pub that he had had enough.

On the way to Eldorado, Sting and Bandit also throw in the towel, but the car being full, Bandit decide to start walk toward Eldorado whilst Kunoath took Sting back to the pub to pick up her car. Bandit almost made it, on foot, to Eldorado before the cars returned. When they did make it to Eldorado, they found that the pack were not in the pub (the obvious place to look), only to find that Gunna had urged them on to go and have a look at the Dredge, a local talking point.

After returning to the Everton Caravan park, the pack slowly got themselves cleaned up and made their way to the Pub for a meal before returning to the caravan park for a few quite drinks before hitting the sack.

The Recovery Run on Sunday morning was a walk around the highspots of Everton before the pack melted away to meet again so other Run.

All in all, an enjoyable run, and those that weren't there, missed something.
