Last Weeks Trail

Another big crowd (10, again) turned out for this, lets say, very aromatic run. The pack was deep in discussions about the location for the 1111th run and they watched on, in anticipation, as two of the locals, out for an evening stroll with their dogs, passed by but TuckerBox's pouch ignored the local K9's so the potential of a bit of extra entertainment was averted. Eventually, Bobcat called for the packs attention, gave his instructions then called "On On". The "On On" on the ground at our feet, seemed to indicate that trail led over the road, but no, trail actually led along the dirt road behind the pack, so the pack was "On".

Bandit led the way, for a change, spotting Bobcat's strips of T-shirt in the trees and shrubs but soon came to a fork in the track with no real obvious indication of whether this were a "Two-Way" let alone if trail went one way or the other. So Bandit went one way and Sting and Onca the other, but Bandit was soon back having found nothing. Doing the right thing, and as the rest of the pack were still to arrive at the fork, Bandit set off after Sting and Once to check the other branch, but hadn't gone far before Hare Bobcat called them back showing Bandit had been on the right track to start with, just hadn't checked far enough. This was the start of a trail where arrows were at a premium.

At the next track junction, when trail could not be found down either track, Hare Bobcat pointed Onca up the hill, not on any track, but apparently "On Trail". The pack slipped and slid its way up the incline, not on trail but that didn't matter, as Hare Bobcat knew where he was going. At the top of the incline, the pack again missed the markings that showed trail heading to the right but they were there, on the fences, according to Hare Bobcat. Trail eventually found its way to a kid's park at the southern end of Solomon St, where the Hashers amused themselves for several minutes.

From here trail led along Day St to a laneway which then led the pack back up behind the Day St houses to a check at Solomon St. From there, trail led down McLennan St and along Padman Drive to an "On Home" on a notice board in Padman Park. The pack separated and went myriad ways, as different Hashers thought different ways would be shorter/easier ways of getting "On Home".

Because of the Aroma, Nosh, a hearty vegie soup, was enjoyed outside the Nursery on Padman Drive. Down Downs were awarded to Hare Bobcat for the Run and also for the Aromatic flavor of the "On On" location. Then Bobcat put on his ceremonial garments to christen Sam "Cleanaway" in honour of his work in cleaning cars for a living.
