It was a pleasant evening, hardly a cloud in the sky, neither blisteringly hot nor icicle cold, as the pack gathered around the picnic table. "pack" may actually be the wrong word as, following last weeks effort, when seven Hashers gathered at Mr Ed's place on a cool, if not miserable, evening, this week we could only manage a pack of four ... including the "Hare" ....
Eventually, the pack got impatient and set off on a trail which, the "Hare" said, was marked in chalk, flour and paper, and, within about five meters of the start of the trail, we had seen all three. The trail headed off through the gate and along the "Hume and Hovell" trail, and over the fence at a sty to a halt at a picnic table under a large tree. When the "Hare" caught up with the pack, it was "On On" along the dirt trail, looking for some sign of the trail as it was about here that the pack found out the "Hare" was, in fact, a "Pseudo-Hare" with an incomplete knowledge of the trail which had actually been set by an undisclosed, male, "Hare".
Eventually it was back over the sty, because Kunoath had spotted coloured paper around a post, but, no worries, this just sent the pack, including the "pseudo-hare", off on another false trail. Eventually, "eagle eye" Kunoath spotted another piece of coloured paper down a little sidetrack, so it was "On On".
Bandit had been out checking for trail and started skirting the side of the hill to join up with the rest of the pack, and was heard to call "Are you on - SNAKE" to which Kunoath asked "What colour is it?" "Black - about four feet long" came the reply, to which Kunoath said "Don't worry, its safe" which Bandit ignored, backing off a couple of meters, and found a new route to rejoin the rest of the pack.
Trail continued down the hillside and across to the Mungabarena Reserve-Doctor's Point Road, where trail led toward the Riverena Highway. The pack split in two just outside Mungabarena Reserve, with Bandit and "Pseudo-Hare" AI went cross country then up the hill past the Hospital and "On Home", whilst Kunoath and Mystery continued along the roadway to the Riverena Highway and up the hill past the Hospital and "On Home".
Nosh was meat and cheese sandwiches, and, for those that attended, a pleasant evening was had by all.
